Caring for Antique Furniture
Participants in this workshop will learn how to safely handle, care for and store their antique furniture. Curatorial specialists Lisa Shockley and Rebecca Martz-Burley will discuss the most common threats to furniture and upholstery including light, humidity, pests and improper cleaning and handling. They will also demonstrate proper dusting techniques and vacuuming upholstery through a screen. Discussion will also include wood cleaning—which products are suitable for long-term preservation vs. everyday use.
