The historic Union Station was built in 1914 in the beaux-arts style of architecture, and was proudly restored back to its original grandeur and elegance in 1999. Union Station Kansas City offers the broadest and most unique event locations found anywhere in Kansas City. Facilities are available for a variety of events from private conference rooms for 15, regal dinners for 50, theater presentations for 200, wedding and corporate receptions for 250, outdoor Greenbelt for 800, to the impressive galas held in the spectacular Sprint Festival Plaza for 2,000 guests.
When planning your event, Union Station offers many options for entertaining your guests with Science City, national traveling exhibits, and unique theaters. Science City is a hands-on science center designed as an urban cityscape. The Theater District includes the City Extreme Screen, a 440-seat large format theater; the City Dome, a 145-seat planetarium that offers both sky and laser light shows; and the 200-seat City Stage Theater designed for live performances.
