Early Childhood Outreach:

Science Meets Literacy

Reading both fiction and nonfiction books has always engaged students in ideas and questions about the world around them. In the Science Meets Literacy program we will connect a book with a science concept, topic and science vocabulary. Your class will practice and reinforce these concepts as they “play” with science tools, puzzles, models, and real life specimens.

This one hour program has a wide variety of topic choices perfect for preschool and early elementary aged children. Our current topics are:

• Feathered Friends Fun
• Mixing Colors
• Insects & Arachnids
• Is it a Fruit or Vegetable? The Science of Food
• Kitchen Chemistry
• Sleepers & Nappers – Hibernation
• Pairs
• The Science of Two & Air
• Where Can I Find It?
• H2OH
• Music to My Ears

We can also tailor a program to fit your needs
