This spectacular themed experience fills Union Station’s massive Grand Plaza and features sky-reaching lights, dozens of decorated trees, forest friends and giant, floating mirrored ornaments PLUS a bigger-than-ever Rudy’s Wonderland where kids can ride the historic Jones Store Train (Mini Holiday Express Train). Immerse yourself in the holiday spirit with brilliant sights and sounds as only Kansas City’s historic home can deliver.

While Kansas City’s famous outdoor fountains will soon be turned off for the season, Union Station’s newest addition to Holiday Reflections “Fountain Forest” will be turned on. This 4,500 sq. ft. indoor, illuminated fountain will make its debut inside Holiday Reflections. From the makers of similar fountains around the world – currently delighting guests at Universal Studios, Sea World and Walt Disney World – this custom fountain features a 30-foot liquid fireworks dance show set to the beat of favorite holiday songs
Also new this year, all 17 iconic Grand Plaza windows will be covered with “12 Days of Christmas” themed blackout curtains (more than 4,500 square feet of window coverings) making the brilliant lighting experience the same regardless of the time of day or night.

At 27,000 sqf, Holiday Reflections is filled with hundreds of sparkling trees and tens of thousands of dazzling lights. Returning this year, Holiday Reflections will also include scheduled Santa visits, mini-train rides (a favorite for the little ones), a holiday themed VR ride, and 10,000 square feet of Holiday model trains.

For an adult’s night out — and new this year and for three nights only — Tinsel & ‘Tinis – presented by Russell Stover – an after-hours (ages 21+) themed evening experience in Holiday Reflections, complete with eight bars featuring a seasonally-themed drinks and more. Tinsel & ‘Tinis is scheduled for December 9th, 15th, 16th 21st, and 22nd from 8:30 – 11:30 PM and is sure to sell out at only $15 per person. Guests are strongly encouraged to purchase tickets NOW to Kansas City’s largest Holiday Pop-Up Bar!

Your ticket to the Holiday Reflections Walk-Thru Village, Presented by BOK Financial, includes access to our award-winning Model Train Gallery. With an additional $5 ticket (FREE for Union Station Members), your little ones (under 48”) can catch a ride thru Rudy’s Wonderland on the Mini Holiday Express Ride-On Train.
Please note: To ride the Mini Ride On Train, all guests must have a ticket to Holiday Reflections Walk-Thru Village.
You will need to select a date as well as a time for your visit. Hourly capacities are strictly limited, walk-up tickets may or may not be available. Advance ticket purchases are STRONGLY ENCOURAGED.
You may arrive up to thirty minutes prior to your hourly timed ticket. Expect to spend 45-60 minutes in total enjoying the decorations, taking pictures, and marveling at the model trains. No food or drink is allowed in “Holiday Reflections”, but restrooms are located within the ticketed space.

For the safety of guests – especially children – who are naturally drawn to interact with or ask for photos with costumed characters, we ONLY allow Union Station authorized and vetted cast members to wear Santa Claus and other costumes inside Holiday Reflections. Please feel free to dress as festive as you’d like, just no Santa or other character costumes. Thank you for helping us focus on guest safety.
MINI HOLIDAY EXPRESS TRAIN
Take a ride on our miniature train! Often referred to as the Jones Store Train and beloved by generations at the holidays, it was once a popular attraction at the Jones Store downtown. Riders must be under 48″ tall (approximately 5-6 years of age and under). Accessible with paid admission to Holiday Reflections.

MAGICAL SLEIGH RIDE VR – WORLD ADVENTURE
New this year and exclusive to Union Station in Kansas City, explore Santa’s secret wonderland where the elves live and Christmas magic happens. Slip, slide, fly and glide around the world after boarding Santa’s magical sleigh and securing your personal HD Virtual Reality headset to begin your immersive journey. You’ll feel an incredible 4D range of sleigh motions, wind effects, sights and sounds. Joining you will be a delightful animated character named, “D.A.S.H.”, who will guide you around the globe and even into space. Hold on to your hats and antlers . . . this could be a bumpy ride! This family-friendly experience will be one of the highlights of your holiday season and is conveniently located inside the wildly popular Holiday Reflections experience. The Magical Sleigh Ride VR seats up to 6 people and is available as a separate ticketed option

HOLIDAY MODEL RAIL EXHIBIT IN GRAND PLAZA

The Model Rail Exhibit you know and love has expanded into Grand Plaza. With over 800 feet of track, the Holiday Model Rail Exhibit has grown even larger this year! The display features eighteen consecutive running trains and a 15-foot, 3-D, lighted Kansas City Southern Rudy train engine!
