Union Station Announces One-Week Extension for The Discovery of King Tut

Exhibition now scheduled to close Sept. 14th.

Attendance and enthusiasm for TUT has shown no signs of slowing.

(August 15, 2014) KANSAS CITY, MO – Today officials with Kansas City’s Union Station announced that after several weeks of negotiations with the producers of The Discovery of King Tut, one additional week for the exhibition at Union Station has been secured. TUT, previously scheduled to close Sept. 7th, will now close on Sept. 14th,  giving school groups, families and fans of ancient Egypt one entire extra week to explore the amazing tombs and treasures.

The Discovery of King Tut has been a strong success since it opened on April 4th and is already one of the Station’s top attended exhibitions.

“Kansas City and the entire region have turned out to discover the mysteries and treasures of King Tut,” George Guastello, president and CEO of Union Station, said. “We are proud to continue bringing world-class exhibitions like TUT to our community.  I encourage everyone who hasn’t seenThe Discovery of King Tut – presented by Bank of America – to take advantage of this extra week by making plans now. Anyone who has seen this exhibition will tell you, it should not be missed!”

The high quality and educational value of this unique presentation has attracted more than 90,000 guests to TUT from around the region with even more visitors already reserved.

The largest exhibition in Union Station history, covering a total of 20,000 square feet, The Discovery of King Tut features more than 1,000 breathtaking reproductions expertly hand-crafted over five years by leading Egyptian artisans. Over five million people experienced The Discovery of King Tut across Europe before the tour landed in Kansas City.

Through a partnership between Semmel Concerts GmbH (“Semmel”) and Premier Exhibitions, Union Station was honored to be selected to host the North American premier of this world tour, placing Kansas City in the company of the cultural capitals of Europe, including Munich, Dublin, Seoul, Paris, Amsterdam, Berlin, Prague and Geneva.

Tickets may be purchased online at www.unionstation.org or at the Union Station box office. Ticket prices are $19.95 for adults and $14.95 for children (ages 3-12.) Admission price includes a special audio tour (one for adults and one version paced for children) which enhances the exhibition experience. It not only captivates, but educates, making it appropriate for all ages. Get updates on Facebook and Twitter @UnionStationKC, #TUTKC.
