The Bayer Transportation Scholarship Fund to Allow Hundreds of Children Opportunity to Visit Science Center

Generous Transportation Grant to Assist in Science Education Field Trips for Area Youth

The Bayer Transportation Scholarship Fund to Allow Hundreds of Children Opportunity to Visit Science Center

KANSAS CITY, MO. (August 4, 2016) — Bayer recently awarded Kansas City’s Science Center, Science City,  $7,000 to be utilized as a transportation scholarship fund for field trips to the Science Center. Scholarships will be given to select counties in both Missouri and Kansas, with priority given to Title I schools (public, private, parochial or home-based) or those with 50% or more free and/or reduced lunches.

“Bayer is thrilled to partner with Science City to provide this opportunity for more students to get a glimpse into the exciting world of STEM,” said Lauren Dorsch, Communications Manager at Bayer Animal Health. “Fostering a love for science at an early age is so important. After all, these same children may become the chemists, engineers, veterinarians and scientists who could work at science-based companies like Bayer who develop products that create a better life for people and animals.”

The transportation scholarship fund will assist in making field trips possible for students who may otherwise be unable to experience the 80,000 sqf Science Center that focuses on the wonder of science, technology, engineering and math.

“With the support of local corporate partners such as Bayer, Science City continues to serve as a unique STEM resource to the community, said George Guastello, president and CEO of Union Station. “The Science Center strives to serve as a scientific, educational and cultural resource, dedicated to inspiring a lifelong love of science. This scholarship allows us to deliver on our mission of science education while inspiring and engaging students on a daily basis.”
