Help Us Stand Strong for Kansas City!

For the past 106 years, Union Station has embodied the strength and resilience of Greater Kansas City and beyond. In war times, we surged in service to care for those sent overseas and those returning home to their loved ones. We even defied the wrecking ball for over 10 years. In times of tremendous celebration — most recently with the Chiefs Super Bowl Celebration — we stood as a majestic backdrop to our collective pride. And, perhaps most importantly, in millions and millions of private moments among families and friends, we have been and always will be where Kansas City connects with our history and celebrates where we’re going.

Now is no different. We WILL face adversity head on and be the strong, steady visual voice of hope and resolve.

For the moment — and as we continue safeguarding the health and well-being of our guests, volunteers and staff and slow the spread of COVID-19 — we’ve temporarily closed our attractions and cancelled events through the end of March.

Further, we are preparing for the longer-term impact of this challenge, with possible longer delays before re-opening, as well as the longer-term economic ramifications. Against that reality, we are seeking your support now to help preserve and maintain our magnificent landmark, as well as ensure the sustainability of our operation and dedicated staff. Kansas City WILL rebound and be stronger than ever. And Union Station — with your help — WILL be as vital and vibrant as ever!

As a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, everything we do is made possible by people like you. Union Station Kansas City’s visitors, members and donors provide the vital support for our programming, exhibits and wide-ranging cultural preservation activities.

In these unprecedented times, we need your support NOW.

We are rapidly and responsibly reducing our overhead to match this new reality. We are doing EXACTLY as you would expect of us. But we are NOT giving one inch of hard-fought ground to COVID-19 or any other enemy of our goodness. Together we will stand united to ensure future generations can celebrate and learn from our determination and fortitude.

Union Station has been fortunate to function non-traditionally, for the past ten years, as a 501(c)(3) with a strong entrepreneurial spirit. We have fought and earned our way back from a very uncertain future. As we plan for difficult times ahead, we remain a beacon for our community and collective resolve to get through this together and sustain each other. Watch for more details regarding our plans in the days and weeks to come.

In the meantime and with a sense of real urgency, if you have the ability to help ensure our viability and community service, we ask for your most generous gift. Purchase or renew your membership. Donate the amount you would otherwise spend on a ticket for any of our attractions. Every dollar matters and makes a difference.

We WILL navigate through this uncertainty, and we hope you and your family are staying safe and healthy. What a tremendous reunion it will be when we ALL gather, once again, at our Kansas City historic home. We expect you will be front and center for that grand celebration.

With unwavering commitment and gratitude,
