Science City After Hours: The Kids Had Their Turn. Now It’s Yours.
For the first time ever, Science City is staying open late—and this night is strictly for the grown-ups. Grab your friends and take over Science City for an adults-only night packed with music, drinks, science, games and plenty of opportunities to play. Explore your favorite exhibits without the kids, then discover a whole new side of Science City with experiences created just for After Hours.
Sing karaoke beneath the stars in the Planetarium. Cozy up around the fire with s’mores. Catch an old-school film. Challenge your crew to yard games. Get hands-on in Maker Studio and Creative Corner. And experience chemistry that gets a little wild with live demonstrations at Periodic Table.
Throughout the night, a live DJ, themed activities, community partners, food and drinks keep the party going. Whether you grew up visiting Science City, love all things science or just want a night out that’s completely different, this is your chance to explore, experiment, create, compete and play your way through Science City.

Dinosaur Still Life
Channel your inner paleontologist and artist! Guests can create their own prehistoric scenes while sketching dinosaurs and fossil-inspired tableaus. Explore shapes, textures and details while bringing a prehistoric friend to life. No art degree—or artistic fossilization—required!
Pet Rock
Meet your new low-maintenance best friend! Guests can create their own Pet Rock and design a custom home or carrying case using recycled materials and tools from the Maker Studio. Because every pet deserves a place to rock out!
What Dinosaurs Feared
Dinosaurs may have ruled the Mesozoic, but they weren’t always at the top of the food chain. Guests will encounter the prehistoric predators that were big, fierce and formidable enough to make even a mighty T. rex think twice. Explore the ancient reptiles and other fearsome creatures that shared the Mesozoic world—and discover the science behind what made them such successful hunters.
Karaoke in the DOME
Always dreamed of being the star of a show? Now’s the time to sing your heart out under the stars. Guests can choose from a wide selection of favorite hits and take center stage in Kansas City’s only planetarium.
Prehistoric Night Under the Stars
Kick back, relax and enjoy a prehistoric night under the stars. Guests can watch prehistoric films on the big screen, cozy up by the fireside with a gooey s’more, or challenge friends to games of bags, ring toss and other tabletop favorites.
