Join us Wednesday, June 10th as Science City celebrates Minecraft Day! Celebrate 17 years of building, crafting, and exploration as you make your very own treasure chest, learn about the biomes of planet Earth, see a real-life axolotl up close and personal and more!
Minecraft Day Schedule
Creative Corner: BLOCK Printing – Celebrate the core part of Minecraft, the blocks! Use flat LEGO pieces to created pixilated art that looks like it came right out of the game. Plus you can take your creation home with you at the end of the day.
Maker Studio: Minecraft Hand Puppets – Using laser cut paper pieces, you’ll be able to create your very own Minecraft inspired hand puppet and play with them in a small diorama featuring 3D printed props.
Engineerium: Minecraft Mosaics – Use the provided LEGO bricks to create your very own piece that can be added to our growing mosaic throughout the day.
Haverty Family Yards: Exploding Creepers – Try your hand at drawing a creepers face before making him blast sky high using science!
Early Learning: Magnet Fishing – Young gamers can try their hands at fishing in the PNC learning lab, while learning a little bit about magnets at the same time.
Nature Works: Minecraft Animals – Learn more about the animals in Minecraft and even see some up close at their specialized Nature Chats taking place at 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m
Periodic Table: Trivia – Test your Minecraft knowledge to be entered to win a 3D printed Glow Box
Throughout Science City: Scavenger Hunt – Complete the specialty Minecraft scavenger hunt on the SC app and win a 3D printed keychain found in Maker Studio.
Maze Park & Black Hawk Landing: Photo Ops – Get your picture taken with both of our fun photo ops featuring Minecraft themed backdrops, masks, and props.
Tapped Out: Act Natural – THIS JUST IN! A massive CREEPER OUTBREAK has threatened Overworld and Science City News needs your help! Join us in the Newsroom at Overworld Headquarters for Minecraft Day to deliver dramatic updates straight from your favorite biome. Step under the Studio Lights for a play-pretend live broadcast or head to the Green Screen for an on-location report from deep caves, village markets, or even the Nether itself! Will Creepers invade the city, or will diamond discoveries change history forever? Find out live from Science City News!
