Step into a world of magic, mythical creatures, and heroic adventures during Sword & Sorcery Weekend at Science City! Explore the science behind color changing potions, fantastics beasts, and more through hands-on activities, live demonstrations, and interactive experiences. Whether you’re a brave knight, clever wizard, or curious adventurer, this enchanting weekend offers fun and discovery for the whole family.
Come dressed as your favorite witch, wizard or fantasy character! Adults are welcome to join the fun and dress up too! Please ensure all costumes are family-friendly. Full-face coverings are not permitted for guests ages 13 and older.

Wizard’s Lair (pH Potion) | Location: Periodic Table
Do you have what it takes to create a potion? Come to the Periodic Table to learn how mixing acids and bases create different colorful potions. Huzzah!
UV Reactive Magic Wands | Location: Maker Studio
Abracadabra! Make your very own magical wand and discover the science behind a spell! Use UV-reactive beads to create a wand that changes color when exposed to ultraviolet light.
Fire Breathing Dragon | Location: Creative Corner
ROARRR! Unleash your creativity to craft your very own fire-breathing dragon! Use cardboard tubes, tissue paper and a treasure trove of your choice.
Fantastic Beasts and Where They Come From | Location: Nature Works
Get up close with live creatures and learn these real animals have inspired some of the most famous magical creatures in fantasy and sci-fi.
Color Cauldrons | Location: PNC Learning Lab (Early Learning Activity)
Come one, come all to the Color Cauldron! Bring your young wizards and witches to the Color Cauldron in the PNC Learning Lab! Get ready to test your color skills, mix up potions and brew up some fun!
Be forewarned: there may even be glitter involved.
Science Dragon Showdown | Location: Maze Park
Prepare for battle! Join Alpha Chi Sigma in Maze Park for the Alchemist Showdown, where speed, strategy and a 20-sided die are used to solve math problems to fight against a dragon and friends! Do you have what it takes to be victorious?
Wizardry of Chemistry | Location: Maze Park
Get ready to experience the magic of science as Alpha Chi Sigma presents Wizardry of Chemistry, a spellbinding stage show where chemistry comes to life through exciting demonstrations, surprising reactions and a little scientific wizardry!
